An Evening of Trail Talk

The Kansas Trails Council is pleased to announce that it will be working with community partners in the Columbus area to host an Evening of Trail Talk on April 16, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, at the Education Classroom at Crossland Construction, 833 S. East Avenue, Columbus, 66725 (first building south of Pizza Hut).  Refreshments will be provided.

The Kansas Trails Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to building and maintaining public trails in Kansas.  Mike Goodwin, KTC Treasurer and Board Member, has been traveling the state meeting with park officials and trail enthusiasts to identify potential locations for new trails and to gauge public interest in trails of all types.  Goodwin said, “We have been amazed at how excited people are about building more trails in their area.  And, we’re discovering that there are many scenic locations across the state where trails could be built.”

The Evening of Trail Talk will showcase some recent examples of destination trails that have been built in Southeast Kansas, like the Lehigh Portland Trails in Iola.  Goodwin hopes that trail enthusiasts around Columbus will help identify nearby locations for new trails.  “Another reason for the Trail Talk meeting is to let folks know about the resources the KTC and other organizations can provide to local trail builders”, Goodwin explained.

If you are interested in this exciting venture to bring more recreational and tourism opportunities to SEK, plan to attend this introductory meeting.
