When a child or teen is asked what they want to do or be when they grow up, many are looking at options related to business. If you know a young person interested in business, recommend the upcoming Youth Entrepreneurship Class on June 19, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The Columbus Farmers Market is partnering with Matt Ross, local entrepreneur, for an Entrepreneurship Class to teach future business leaders the basics of owning and operating a small business. Any young person age 7 through 18 is invited to attend the class at The Shack at 327 N. East Avenue in Columbus.

Participants of the class who would like to put their new skills to the test are welcome to set up a booth at any weekly Farmers Market or at the special Downtown Market Events. The market already has several young people who have been active participants, and more are welcome and encouraged. The benefits include learning how to handle monetary transactions, interact with the public, determine product selection and inventory levels, and how to advertise and promote a business. This class is made possible with support from The Shack, the Columbus Farmers Market, K-State Extension, and The Columbus Project.
